The purpose of this transfer/tour combo is clear: Saving time, money and energy while discovering Croatia’s highlights: Zagreb, the Plitvice Lakes and Split.

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is not easy to reach (fortunately). It’s actually in the middle of nowhere, requiring visitors to dedicate time and money to get there.

Of course, the best solution would be to spend a couple of days in the park, and taking time to discover the Plitvice Lakes area. However, many people cannot afford spending more than one day there. Therefore, one of the most common ways to visit the Plitvice Lakes is by taking a one-day tour, either from Zagreb, Istria, Rijeka, Zadar or Split.

Instead of unnecessarily travelling back to your starting point, and leaving it again the next day, why not ‘kill two birds with one stone’ by including the Plitvice Lakes tour into the transfer that you were planning to do anyway.

Make a wise choice – go with Portal Day Tours

When you take all this into consideration, taking a private transfer/tour from Split to Zagreb or vice versa via Plitvice Lakes maybe just what you need.
Surprisingly, the price of the trip may not be nearly as high as you would expect it to be for such a service.

Since 2005, Portal Day Tours has owed its success primarily to its employees and associates: professional, friendly and responsible. We take our mission seriously, and make sure that each one of our clients feels welcome.

Close to two thousand unsolicited excellent reviews are a proof of our reliability and trustworthiness.

All of our tour guides/drivers understand that taking tours to the Plitvice Lakes requires them to be very flexible, intuitive, reasonable and patient. Our guided were selected because they have been meeting those requirements and getting predominately excellent feedback from our clients.

Knowing that your tour guides/drivers are taking good care of you, meeting all the safety requirements, you will be able to relax and let yourself be mesmerised by the awe-inspiring Plitvice Lakes.

    Itinerary

As you probably expect, any private tour can be tailored and customised. The Portal Day Tours Private Tour to Plitvice Lakes is no exception.

However, some facts need to be kept in mind. For instance, entrance tickets are booked days before the tour and for selected hours only. In other words, visitors are expected to enter the Park as scheduled.
At times, due to heavy rains, some parts of the park get flooded, affecting the proposed itinerary.

Also, our experienced tour guide might suggest altering the planned route, and going for an alternative one.

This is a recommended itinerary for our Plitvice Lakes Private Tour:

    08:00/09:00 Pick-up and departure from Split/Zagreb
10:30 – 15:00 Sightseeing of Plitvice Lakes with your private guide
    15:30 – 16:30 Time for lunch
    18:00/19:00 Arrival to Zagreb/Split and drop-off

    Description

Our experienced tour guide/driver will pick you up at the arranged meeting point, taking care of the baggage. If necessary, he will suggest comfort stops along the way to the Plitvice Lakes and give you more details about the trip.

Your entrance tickets to the Plitvice Lakes National Park will have been booked and paid by the agency, so upon arrival to the park, your guide will just briefly do some final paperwork, skipping the line.
Depending on your preferences and the circumstances in the park, especially the weather, your guide will recommend a route, with the aim to make you enjoy the park as much as possible.

Usually, our private tours begin at the Entrance 2, starting with the guided visit of the Upper Lakes, then taking the relaxing 20-minutes-long boat ride across the Lake Kozjak and end by a stroll at the Lower Lakes, climaxing at the Big Waterfall.
Again, keep in mind that this is a private hiking tour, which means that you can always share your thoughts with the guide, who will do his best to meet your requirements.

As the guided tour comes to its end, you might inform your guide if you’re interested in stopping for lunch, so that he would be able to make arrangements with the restaurant. Tired, but content, you will certainly appreciate your guide/driver’s insightful comments and tips on the places you’re planning to visit next in Croatia.

Before you know it, you will be dropped off at your hotel or apartment. In case your apartment is in a pedestrian zone, expect to be dropped off as close as possible.

    Important hints

The Plitvice Lakes tour requires a considerable amount of walking, approximately 5-6 kilometres over 4 hours (including going up and down the stairs and hiking over uneven ground). The upside is that your mobile apps will congratulate you for making 10.000 steps. Therefore, the regular route may not be suitable for people with walking disabilities or other health issues. However, we may be able to create a plan that will, to some extent, make the tour possible.

Also, keep in mind that the weather at the Plitvice Lakes may at times be totally different than anywhere else in Croatia. Be prepared.

    • Make sure to mention any health/walking issues as you book the tour
    • Check weather forecast before you go
    • Check weather forecast again on another website
    • Dress appropriately. Walking shoes are recommended.
    • Don’t forget to take your medication with you
    • Take an umbrella/raincoat/jacket anyway.
    • Get a hat, sunglasses and a bottle of water in summer

Very knowledgable, attentive, polite, great humour, but also super organised to ensure your tour runs smooth. Myself and the Mrs traveled from Zagreb to Split via the Plitvice Lakes, our guide was fantastic and looked after us every step of the way.
