Description
At agreed time your private tour guide/driver will pick you up and take care of the baggage. The comfortable journey on a modern highway in an air-conditioned vehicle will take approximately 1 hour before we reach our goal: the Krka National Park.
Upon arrival to the park, your driver will take care of the entrance tickets and give you directions and hints on how to make the best of your 2-hour-long free time in the oasis-like area of the Skradinski Buk waterfalls.
The raised boardwalks will lead you through a subtropical wetlands forest: Streams of the Krka River meander by bay trees, sycamores, fig trees, wild grape vines and mulberry trees. The area has long been used by humans to harvest the “renewable energy” of the water. Watermills and artificially created channels supplying them with water eventually became totally incorporated into the natural landscape.
Finally, all the streams join into the extraordinary sequence of cascading waterfalls that need no description: you will simply gaze in awe as you cross the pedestrian bridge. The climb back to the upper level is made easier by numerous lookout points, perfect fortaking photos or simply calm meditation.
By that time, your tour guide/driver will already be waiting for you, ready to suggest taking you to a nice restaurant or a tavern nearby. The region of the national park is famous for its smoked ham, super-slow-cooked veal risotto “Skradinski rižot” and a delicious cake made of walnuts, almonds and rose petal liqueur “Skradinska torta”.
Alternatively, wine-tasting and a small snack at Croatia’s finest wineries, like Bibich (Anthony Bourdain’s choice) or Sladic, might be just what you need before continuing the ride to your drop-off location.
Available options
This private transfer/tour combo can be expanded and altered, depending on your schedule and preferences. For instance, you may also want to visit the nearby city of Šibenik, with its outstanding Cathedral of St. James, a UNESCO heritage site.
Or, you can have lunch in one of many famous taverns in the Šibenik area or wine-tasting in
some of the fanciest wineries in Dalmatia.. For more ideas, we invite you to consider options listed in the description of our Krka Watefalls Private Tour.
