Description
The Dubrovnik Private Tour starts in Split (or the greater Split area). You will be picked up at the arranged location by your tour guide/driver in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.
After leaving Split, we will take the modern autobahn-like highway, passing by some of the Croatia’s tallest mountains. Eventually, we will join the Adriatic Coastal Road and drive by the scenic floating gardens of the Neretva Delta and the citrus orchards.
Since the construction of the new Pelješac bridge, there is no longer need to cross the
territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina when taking the road to Dubrovnik.
The oyster and mussel beds, terraced vineyards and picturesque hamlets of the Pelješac
peninsula introduce its jewel, the walled town of Ston, with its 4.5- kilometres-long stone
ramparts, protecting the ancient salt pans.
Next, we will drive along the scenic Dubrovnik coastline, its pristine coves, turquoise bays,
lush maquis forest and romantic islands.
And, finally, WOW! The entire city of Dubrovnik will appear in front of you, with its towers,
walls and bastions.
Upon arriving to the Pile Gate, you will be introduced to your local tour guide and discover
the fascinating heritage of the “Athens” of Croatia, Dubrovnik.
The Large Onofrio’s fountain, the Franciscan monastery, the resplendent Stradun Street,
Sponza Palace, Church of St. Blaise, Rector’s Palace and the Cathedral are just some of the
sights you will admire.
If you’re a GOT fan, make sure to remind your guide to take you to the “WALK OF
SHAME” aka the Jesuit Stairs.
Finally, your guide will conclude the visit in the Old Port, offering advice on things to do in
your free time. Certainly, you might want to know how to get to the City Walls or where to
have the best seafood or just a traditional snack.
Depending on your schedule, you will have more than enough time to see quite a bit of Dubrovnik in your free time. FYI, it usually takes 1.5 hours to walk around the City Walls. Just make sure to bring a hat and comfortable walking shoes.
The journey back home will offer an opportunity to view the same scenery in a mellow
afternoon light. By the time you reach the highway, you will probably be in a meditative
state, probably tired, but certainly fulfilled and enriched.
